Caprarola
The village of Caprarola stands on a tuffaceous spur on the southern slope of the Cimini Mountains; located in the territory of Etruscan Tuscia, it has more recent origins, however; in fact, the first settlements date back to the 11th century. In contention since the Middle Ages, between the Orsini, Prefetti di Vico and other local families, it reached its peak in the 16th century, under the rule of the Farnese family to whom we owe many of the treasures of
Tuscia. Palazzo Farnese stands in a dominant position over the village of Caprarola and was built for the Farnese family, among the most important of the 16th century. A weekday visit also allows visitors to discover the wonderful Italian-style gardens, ending in the ‘Palazzina del Piacere’. Not to be missed, close to Palazzo Farnese, is the Church of Santa Teresa.
